Are your tutors all DBS checked?

Yes, all of our tutors hold a DBS check.  We also complete additional checks ourselves as part of our recruitment process.

Are your tutors qualified?

All of our tutors have the relevant qualifications and experience for the area they are tutoring.  For more information about each tutor see our About Us page or get in touch.

How is payment taken?

Payment is taken each half term in advance through our system which you and the student will receive a log in to.

When should I get a tutor?

This will depend on what you want to get out of tutoring.  If you are looking for a boost in confidence we can help at any time.  To help with a specific exam, whether it’s the 11+, 13+, GCSE or A-Level, the earlier the better.  For example - A student starting in September of Year 11 will generally have only 30 sessions before their exam whereas starting at the beginning of Year 10 they would have about 70 sessions before their exams.  A Christmas start in Year 11 leaves only 15 sessions before the exam!

Why do groups work better for some students?

Group sessions can be less intense for students, they build confidence and increase motivation. Working in a group engages higher level thinking while giving opportunities for more varied activities. For many students it facilitates faster progress.

Is there anything I can do to help before I invest in a tutor?

Absolutely, tutoring is not the right solution for everybody and there are may things you can do to help your young person before booking a tutor, take a look at our blog 'The Rise of Private Tuition' which has lots of ideas to get you start. You can always drop us a message if you would like some more specific advise for your student.

Can I choose a tutor?

We will of course take your preferences into account however there may be times when your ideal tutor is unavailable, we will work with you to fin the best match for you and your family.

How many students are in the small group sessions?

Our groups have a maximum of 6 students in them but often run with lower numbers.  Keeping our groups small allows our tutors to provide a personalised programme for each student.
